eLearning has many different meanings to different people. Here, we simply regards it as any computer enhanced training. Many technologies can be used, and these can be supplemented with instructor led learning to form blended training programmes. Some of the most common options available to you are discussed below, but other methods also exist (eg. MP3, Simulators, Games, PDA's etc..)
eLearning software such as Adobe Captivate, Macromedia Flash, ViewletBuilder and TurboDemo allow short training modules to be authored, and then played back on a computer. These have the advantage in that the student can take the course at a time and place to suit them. They can form a resource pool to be called on by new staff members. This aids in sustainable training.
