PMO

The role of a Project Management Office is either that of Control or Support. With modern EPM systems most organisations opt for a Project Support Office (PSO).
The scope of a PMO with this support mandate is to;
- provide the infrastructure
- support for the projects
- support for the business.

Without the infrastructure, i.e. Processes, Procedures, Work Instructions, Education, Training and PM Tools, support cannot be provided.
It is also important to remember that this type of PMO has no executive role - it is Process Orientated.
The role of the PMO (as a PSO) is to be the centre of Excellence for Project & Programme Management in the business.

If you need more details about the roles, responsibilities and essential skills required by a PMO, we have a standard half day workshop, which takes you through the 5 steps needed to establish and run a PMO from establishing the terms of reference to managing PM process improvement.

If your PMO is constrained by lack of IT infrastructure or needs support to embed best practices & Procedures, then we have the skills and experience to help.

If you would like to outsource the PMO function then we can provide the complete infrastructure, including PM tools, for a monthly fee.
